Hopefully somebody out there can search in Emusic.com and identify them.
Thanks,

It's definitely the work. But I prefer a less baroque version (like Gavrilov with Previn).

Thanks very much Handel. I'll just confirm via the Naxos link when I get the time.

Default Looking for Rameau

I recorded some Rameau off the radio a while ago. I only even know it's Rameau because I recognize the style, and because I heard it identified about two seconds before I finally managed to record it.

The first one is an orchestral thing that sounds a lot like the Inspector Gadget theme, Baroque-style. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjimg0OCK0M The piece that starts at about 2:20.

In my recording it's followed by a choiry thing. It's cheery, and the only word I recognize is 'chapeau', which is at the end of the first line. Not helpful at all. That's followed by some orchestral stuff, and something alone with a soprano -who made me want to jam a breadknife in to my eardrums but was probably really good and famous because I was listening to WQXR (NY Times radio station)- and a harpsichord. It was really slow, and supposed to be soothing, and after her there was a swellingish chorus. I don't have my radio recording with me, and while trying to conjure it up I keep on thinking of the Brandenburg Concertos or Goldberg Variations, so I can't do much better.

I think it was a ballet.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could ID this piece?

It is the tune that plays at the beginning of this interview with Pol Pot

Okay, I once heard this piece and I no nothing about it, all I know is that it's really fast and the notes are really high and the violins are playing the main tune. These notes are probably wrong, but the rhythm and note change goes something like: a ddd ccc bbb ccc bbb ccdede.... and it repeats. Any ideas? Should be a popular piece I'm guessing. Thanks for any help!

I'm trying to find a classical song. I only remember a small part of it, it's pretty "majestic", I tried to write it in a MIDI-program but I don't think I got the note-lengths correct(i tried the best i could though). Still, you can download and listen to it here: http://file2upload.net/download/4475/whatsong.mp3.html (converted the file to mp3)

Hopefully someone will manage to identify it...

I have been searching everywhere for a certain piece of music. My Grandmother had a music box that played it. I don't remember exactly how the title was spelled, but I do remember it was "die mon???" or something similar. I would really love to know what it was. If anyone knows what i'm talking about Hooray!.

Die Mondschein Sonate, perhaps?

Question Please help me find this piece

Ok, this is yet another attempt in an ongoing attempt to rediscover a piece I've never heard in any film or on the radio or anything (so it might be somewhat obscure). I once found a cassette tape labeled "Classical Meditation 4" in handwriting. On this tape i heard a piece of music that moved me more than anything I've ever heard in my life. This tape became inseparable from me for months, until one day I just couldn't find it. I've been looking for this melody for years now, and I'm really hoping someone could help me. I'm afraid I don't know the composer or anything about the piece other than one of the central melodies. If any of you have a keyboard handy it goes very slowly

b b c b c d c g a g a b b..... b b c b c e d c b c g(#) b(#) c g g...

I'm sorry i can't be more specific, and I wish i could hum it or something but that really wouldn't work. I've been humming this friggin song for over 3 years and I think I'm starting to go insane, so any help would be lovely.

Cheers.

BTW i don't know if this is the actual key it was in... this is the way with the least amount of sharps and such, so it was easier to write without it looking like a mess... those b's sound more accurate as g's though, if that helps at all. Thanks again.

Is your clip really meant to be 3 seconds long?

Anyway, I'd say it sounds like the opening notes of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto...

Default Is this the Bach Italian Concerto? By Who? What CD?

Dear All,

Perhaps you can help me out. I know nothing about classical music, but I would like to learn and this seems as good a place as any to start. When I was in college, a friend gave me a data cd with a bunch of classical music on it. I recently rediscovered one track, which was labled only as "Bach - Italian Concerto" but with no other identifying information. I am providing a link to the file here. (Scroll to the bottom). I hope this is allowed, if not, please remove, moderators--although I don't know how else you'll be able to hear it). I am completely in love with this track. I am looking to find out some information about it, as I would like to purchase whatever CD it's on and also solicit any opinions on what I should look for in a similar style. So, based on a listen, does anyone know who performed this piece and what CD it might be on? Is it accurately labled, i.e. is it "Italian Concerto."? Do you have any other recommendations for similar music? Thank you all very much in advance.

Hi polarbear,

The file is labeled correctly. This is the 2nd part of the Italian concerto for keyboard by Bach. The full name would be "Italian Concerto in F major, BWV 971: II Andante".

Now for recordings, I cannot really guide you. I possess a compilation of Bach keyboard Concertos played by Glenn Gould and this one is on it. I don't think you'd want this whole box set though.

Default What song is this?

A few months ago I was zapping and I came across some figure skating contest and I heard the following song. ( Click here ). I've wanted a better mp3 all the time since this recording sucks and the talking is annoying too. You've to crank your volume quite a lot, because my mp3 player sucks for recording. Any help would be appreciated.
