OK looks like I'm back - this time a different tune.

I believe this is classical, although I'm not 100% sure as I go along to church so its may be a Christian song.

The tune goes as follows:

C (middle) G F, F A G, G C B C G E C D E A (low) G or F (high again) F (depends if played already) E D C B C - I'm not quite sure what happens after this bit. I think this is how it goes, although I'm not absolutely sure.

An alternative to it (maybe another part of the song) goes:

C (middle) G F, F A G, G C B C G E C D E (same up till here, then) F G A G F E D E C B C D C

If anyone could give me a name for this song, or what they think it might be, I'd be very grateful

Dan

Is it by any chance Bach's Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, BWV 147? The organ usually plays that tune you mentioned (or one very similar), and the chorus start to sing "Jesu Joy of Man's Desire". Does that sound familiar? Look it up just to see.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Ever heard the Doxology if you go
to church? It kinda sounds like it.

Default Please help identify this piece

I downloaded this file years ago and it had no tags. I'm hoping the expertise of the forum can help me identify the composer. Thanks!

Awesome!

That's the final Allegro from Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in F minor, Op. 8 No. 4, RV 297.

Known as "L'inverno", from The Four Seasons.

Marimbas?

I really like how ethereal the sound is. I guess I could never find it because it's not played on the standard instrument.

Any ideas on the recording this is taken from. I'd really like to locate the album if there's more.

Yup, it's Bolero, and a vocal/choral version at that. The original is actually a stand-alone piece for instruments, not from an opera.
