Yes!!! Thank you so much, this is exactly it!!! Haha, how fitting, when I clicked the youtube link and heard it playing, the relief I felt at finally having found it matched the music perfectly. How ironic! :P Thank you once again!

Sorry for the horrible Fruity Loops strings but it was the only way I could think of.

Hi there!

I was wondering if anyone out there could help me identify a composition that I've been searching for but I don't know the title or composer. It's a pretty well known piece... very slow tempo and a distinct part of it plays like this (note the ... means a slightly longer than usual break)

F E D C ... F... A... G ... G... D .. E .. F... A

Any information at all would be really appreciated! Thanks! =)

Default Sahara Desert marathon

Hi,
I recently ran a marathon in the Sahara desert (150 miles in 6 days). On the last night the Paris Philharmonic came out to play for all of us! A truly amazing concert, under the stars lying on our backs in the sand listening to gorgeous music...
Anyway.
The first piece they played was introduced (I thought) as being from Mozart's 25th Symphony. The conductor was speaking French so perhaps I heard wrong. It was a slow, really emotional piece of music. Definitely not:
The nearest I can find is this, but it wasn't this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRVzdwDgegQ
Thank you for your help!

It's from the first Bach cello suite.

I don't think this comes from the first Bach cello suite. Do you remember which movement you thought it was from in that suite?

I was wondering if anyone would recognize this melody from a violin concerto I heard on the radio. I know it's not from any of the famous concertos (Brahms, Beethoven, Bruch, etc.), so i guess it's kinda obscure. Lets just assume it's in C major, 4/4 time, small letters denote an octave higher, and hyphen means hold for an extra quarter note:
E | F E D E | F E F G | A B c d | c - d e
and then it repeats an octave higher with the violin melody. Anyone recognize this?
