Any idea what piece this may be?
I looked in the identifying music thread, but since I have a specific link perhaps this is of more assistance. It is a piano/violin piece that I'd love to learn on my violin. I will greatly appreciate anyone who can identify the piece from which it is selected. Below is the link (sorry it's an external link; nothing offensive, just a video of a little duck):

Please just post your question once, and into the right thread, and that actually is the "Identifying music - thread".
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Daniel

It sounds like the composer was asked to write something that would add kudos to the advertisement so he got bits of a Handel concerto grosso and cut it up and pasted it back together. Sorry if that doesn't help much.

Identification request - sort of waltz-ish and French
Hello everyone,
This musical piece was played on a radio programme, in the end you can hear the "Pink Panther" theme that followed :-) However, I have no idea whatsoever what the title is. To me it has a really strong French flavour interwoven into something that turns out to be some kind of waltz. It also sounds as if it was a theme for a film. My musical taste currently encompasses two directions: classical and ethnic, world music or whatever you call it, including non-western classical (like Anoushka Shankar for example). And this one sounds like something derived from a local French traditional song maybe. Anyways, I really love this tune and hope someone helps me pinpoint the artist and title.
Regards,
Carolus

Hi Rachovsky,
Yes, I think it is an accordion and the way it is played and the light and dynamic feel of the music works for me sort of... French. Perhaps the melody would be easily recognizable to a French person acquainted with traditional songs. I also strongly suspect it to be a theme from a film. I have been lurking here for a few days now and finally decided to register and start posting after finding this beautiful piece of music that I would really like to know better. I find it fascinating reading your threads not only for the musical pieces that I might like but also for the "philosophy" behind music.
PS. Try listening to the whole thing. The real beauty and the waltz-like thing does not come out until 0:50.

I watched the movie only once, six years ago. I didn't like it, but I remember the music...

Thanks a lot YsayeOp.27#6, actually this is the film I considered to be a possible candidate. I wonder if there is any deeper connection between this particular piece and some kind of traditional song or even classical French musical piece... Does it sound familiar to any French music experts here?

Search for a piece of music
Hi all,
I have a rather vague request that i have to admit is quite a long shot...
i heard a piece of music on classic FM some time ago that has stuck with me ever since, but i was unable to catch the name or composer of the piece.
The only description i can give (which is very vague, i know!) is that it was (i think) primarily played by wind instruments, lasted around 6-8 minutes and had a distinctly oriental sound to it - for those who've seen it, it reminded me of some music from the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The music has solo pieces by the instruments towards the start that are slow and haunting in a kind of empty way and builds up to include more instruments towards the end.
I know this is not a great deal to go on at all, but if any one has any ideas whatsover, i would appreciate some help in tracking it down.
Thanks in advance,
James

Sounds like Bolero by Maurice Ravel, but that's not played by wind instruments. It has a repetitive drum being played the entire piece.

okay I'm searching for a song and don't know much about it, but I heard it at school in fifth grade and haven't been able to forget about it. I know that it was 12 tone and that it was a german composer because it had vocals and the words were in German. It was probably the saddest song I ever heard it almost hurt to listen. Any help?
