I'm a little naive to classical music, so I'd like to ask your opinions on the quality of the music... Do you think its surprisingly good, ho hum, or utter trash?

How do you judge music that's new to you, and what kinds of things do you listen for?

(BTW, I find it helps to minimize the window so as not to watch the video while listening to it.)

Default Who composed this march music?

I have not been able to identify the composer(s) of this march music. I have checked against march music by John Philip Sousa, Karl King, Kenneth J. Alford, Edwin Eugene Bagley, and more composers but no avail. Is it perhaps a medley by more than one composer? Any help with title and composer identification is highly appreciated.

the scoring sounds german, maybe carl teike - inspired...and at times czech, but it's not julius fucik.
there are american sounding licks in it.
check with the major service bands (marine, army, army field band, etc., in DC).

Many thanks, David, generously giving your time intending to analyze the composition. I agree there is an American parade tone in it. I have checked with numerous US service bands but not yet succeded indentifying and there are literally thousands of high scool and university parade bands available. I have the sensation of certain maturity in the performance and that it could be a mix of various marches and composers. But I am stranded with the identification.

Cheers, Anders

it has extra trumpets that do not worry about intonation ,
kind of like the royal horse guards in england.

eastman school of music, university of north texas, arkansas tech, univ of illinois...check with those college directors.

A long time i have been itching to know the name of this one composition from the movie Amadeus. The scene is when his piano is being carried down the street and he performs the piece in a courtyard for a King or someone of that stature. Sorry i cannot be more helpful, i have searched soundtrack lists for the song but i have not an idea which it is. I think it is a truly beautiful piece. please and thank you for your help.

Default Spent 1 hour recreating a classical peace... Please help identify!

I spent about an hour recreating a classical piece I heard today, in the hope that somone could help me identify it. (it's still a bitt off key I know)
http://www.epiktet.no/references/which_classical.mid

Spending an hour on a Friday evening writing notes in a midi program should indicate the desperation level of identifying this piece.
