Doesn't your pre amp have those controls?

ha ha!
My "preamp" has 56 input channels but unfortunately once you start messing with them, you`ve destroyed that careful mix it took ages to set up in the first place!

Meanwhile, I turn my back on the moniotrs.
It really sucks getting old....

Seriously considered doing premix with headphones and putting them on backwards. too!

You just reminded me of the old Tripletone amps which were the forst HiFi amps I ever saw with a mid control.

The actual amp I use for monitoring (the 405) doesnt even have a volume cotrol.
Straight out of the master L-R from the desk.
And heaven help you if you forget and turn the desk off before the amp!

My work system has to double as my 'leisure' system, but that's no hardship.

My Mac plays any CD, which feeds into an Apogee Ensemble AD/DA which in turn leads to an SPL 2381 to control listening level. The SPL feeds my Klein & Hummel 0300D active monitors. All in all, a wonderfully neutral and detailed listening experience.

But not forgetting - most importantly - a couple of cubic meters of acoustic treatment in the room; 4 x floor to ceiling corner traps and all early reflection listening points catered for with mineral wool panels.
