Default Great new Classical Music Service

How would you like to have access to 100,000 Classical Music albums, all streaming at an incredible 320 BPS? It has all genres of music, including jazz. Sounds better than a CD.

Play individual songs, or whole albums. Or you get suggestions from the player.

I am not talking about Pandora or a Radio Station that plays one movement out of a symphony or concerto. I am talking about the entire album, from start to finish.

How much does it cost? The princely sum of $4.99 a month. There is a free trial available as well:

    http://mog.com/promos/all_access

I just love this , and I am just a customer. Give it a try. It's like owning every classical CD for five dollars.

There is a way to set up a VPN to the USA so you can access Netflix, Pandora, MOG, etc. Unfortunately that isn't free. .

I currently use Spotify and am not so happy with the amount of classical music. I used to subscribe to Naxos Music Library, which has significantly more. Does anyone know if MOG has more music classical than Spotify? I read an article that suggested that MOG had signed better deals with music suppliers so they could offer all tracks on albums that Spotify cannot.

i tried Spotify briefly. The sound quality isn't there, which is the main thing. And, yes, MOG has a huge library. I am listening to Murray Perahia right now, and they have over sixty of his albums. I guess the entire Sony Catalog.

Just a customer, eh? How charitable of you to come on here and inform us without prior involvement in the forum! Now please excuse me while I go and chase that rat I seem to be smelling.

    You are only smelling yourself.

I think what Mr Polednice is referring to is the literary style of the original post which reads as if it were written by a junior marketing person:

"How would you like to have... an incredible ... Sounds better than... I am talking about the entire ... How much does it cost?... princely sum... free trial available... I just love this... I am just a customer... Give it a try."

If this is your natural way of writing, I apologise.

Trouble is, I am interested in your product, but the way you choose to sell it antagonises me. You create a resistance which you now have to overcome and which is entirely of your own making.

You are both in the U.K. so don't lose any sleep over it. You can't get the service.

That really is too bad. They have the entire Sony, Decca-DG, and EMI Group catalog, plus countless others as well.

I'm interested to see if MOG has a better selection than Spotify. I found it a bit odd that apparently you have to subscribe through Facebook or post a message to their technical team. The team setup an account for me and then emailed me. I'm not sure why they require Facebook (or to go through such an odd method to subscribe). It seems absurdly inefficient unless they have an ulterior reason to require Facebook.

I'm much less interested in the bandwidth issue, but I am a bit unhappy with Spotify's selection. Of course, Spotify's selection is large, but I may be a bit spoiled by Naxos.

@Polednice: I know it's a crushing blow that MOG is not available in that silly country of yours. Welcome back!

If you sign up using: http://mog.com/promos/all_access

you won't need Facebook and the first 2 weeks are free. Plus you can download their desktop app which is better than the web browser app.

As for selection, I will give you an example. They have 90 albums of Itzhak Perlman alone.

Right now I am listening to all of Bruckner's Symphonies by Eugene Jochum. It is a boxed set that sells for $51 on Amazon. Highly recommended, by the way.

I just did a search for several of my favorite composers and NO they do not have as good a catalog as Spotify. The original post smells of spam!

    Default The official ruling

    1) Moderation & Administration sympathizes and agrees with members who concluded that this constitutes advertising, that said-

    2) The post does not sink to our standards for spam, as this Forum permits advertising directly related to Classical Music. Therefore, the thread isn't against the rules, it's merely placed in the wrong Sub-Forum. This thread has been moved to the »Classifieds« section.

    3) Users are again advised to report posts that they feel violate our Forum rules, rather than respond to them. This applies to close calls like this one, as well as the most blatant cases of spam one encounters.

    4) Users are once more reminded of our Guidelines & Terms of Service section which states:
Be polite to your fellow members. If you disagree with them, please state your opinion in a »civil« and respectful manner. (...)
Do not post comments about other members person or »posting style« on the forum (unless said comments are unmistakably positive). Argue opinions all you like but do not get personal and never resort to »ad homs«.
If you have any complaints about other users or their posts, contact the staff directly (by private message) or use the »report post« function.
So we're gonna say (in the tradition of American Football referees) "offsetting penalties," and move on. However, any postings made in violation of Forum Guidelines henceforward are likely to carry consequences. Okay?
