    Default Wagner operas boxset

    Hello everyone.
I'm looking for a comprehensive boxset of Wagner operas (not just the Ring). I've found the following options on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Ope...3312280&sr=1-1

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wagner-Opera...3312280&sr=1-3

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Col...3312280&sr=1-9

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Richard-Wagn...sim_sbs_m_h__3

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wagner-The-O...sim_sbs_m_h__4

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wagner-Great...312360&sr=1-48

I'm looking for a collection with nice sound, although not necessarily state-of-the art.
Which one is recommended, from the above or not? The Barenboim, the Solti and the Decca seem to me the most promising.
    Best regards, Luís Martins.

The Solti complete budget price boxset goes right to the top of the list for me!

DA speaks the truth. Nothing comes close to this Solti box. NOTHING.

Definitely the Solti set. DA do you know if that set is going to be released in the US as well?

I can't find the operas included in the Solti set anywhere... Did anyone find it? Does the boxset include the librettos?

Almost certainly soon since it is Decca label, it is a huge Solti Decca promotion with 5-6 major boxsets being released

The typical modus operandi of these budget price sets is minimal booklet with libretto PDF file on a data disc

from what i see Verdi, Strauss, Mozart operas.

and a special edition Ring set.

if the Mozart set includes his first analog recordings its a great set. they're much better than his 2nd digital ones.

The special edition is certainly a a keeper for a serious collector! Too bad is extremelly expensive...
I've seen those set your mention, but since DarkAngel refered 7 or 8 of those, I was affraid I've missed any... I will search more on Amazon and Decca website.

I wouldnt go for a Wagner boxset if I were you. Unfortunately one size doesnt fit all...

Regarding the Solti, I think his Tannhauser is certainly up there with the best as is his Ring. Parsifal and Meistersingers are very good, but the others I wouldnt recommend if someone wanted a first (or second) recording.

I wouldn't recommend *not* getting this Solti set. Ask not whether you should get it... ask if you can live without it.

I can't find Solti new releases on Decca website. Shame...
I'm very interested in those releases, and more info was welcome on those sets. In the end I'm probably buying them all
