    Default Forum Ageism

Good day kind ladies, gentlemen, and scum of the earth,

I was just attempting to complete my profile information for the satisfaction of our esteemed members' developing curiosity about my whereabouts and where-have-beens, but to my dismay, upon entering my correct birthdate of November 16th 1274, I was crassly instructed that I had entered something invalid. I assure you that I am currently 737 years old and I wish to share this information in the allotted space. I tried to curry the forum's favour by lying about my age as I have often passed for a mere 468, but I soon gave in after discovering it would not even accept a person born in 1900.

Pray tell, how old are we allowed to be here?

    111 is the maximum

The valid range of a forum timestamp is from Fri, 13 Dec 1901 @ 20:45:54 GMT to Tue, 19 Jan 2038 @ 03:14 GMT.

isn't it rather discriminatory to exclude members over 111 years of age?

It's the greed of huge companies and huge organizations which control life in a kind of a brutal way ... It's gotten worse and worse, somehow, because physical science has given us more and more terrible deadly weapons, and the human spirit has been destroyed in so many cases, so what's the use of having the most powerful country in the world if we have killed the soul.

Yeah! And what's more, by having a valid time-stamp go up to 2038, they're saying that you can't join the forum if you're 112, but you can if you're not yet born. The cheek!

Age shouldn't matter at all! This forum should be open to anyone! Sign a petition!

You're right! We need action! I have created an online petition here http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/m...er-the-age-of/.

The target is 350 million signatures, and this is the summary:

"Talk Classical is an online community that is engaging in a cyber-war against the youthfully challenged. Decrepit members of our society above the age of 111 frequently wish to take part in pointless debates about irresolvable questions in classical music, and Talk Classical is not permitting them to reveal their age in a portion of the website that almost no one looks at. This is discrimination of the most repugnant kind and must be stopped immediately."

    Everyone sign it!

I've got another idea, why don't we just ask Krummhorn to change the settings?

Those settings can't be changed ... the default settings are part of the vBulletin software we use for the forums.
