Editing Posts
Hello,
My mind isn't cooperating with my eyes. Could anyone please tell me how I can edit my posts?
Thanks.

Hi vertciel,
You can edit and delete your posts within a time-limited duration, between 4 & 6 hours. I'm not exactly sure on the duration, but will find out for sure and let you know.
To edit or delete your posts, click the button by the post you want to edit. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting the post may result in the removal of the entire thread.
After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post.
One caveat here is, that if another member has already quoted any part of your posting into their new post, altering your original post will have no affect on the quoted portion - it will remain as it was when the quote option was activated.
After the time duration for individual member editing elapses, the only people who can alter a posting are the forum staff. If you feel that the change in your post is absolutely necessary, please send a PM to Krummhorn, (myself), Daniel or Frederik, stating the reason for your request and what you would like to have edited from your submission.
Hope this helps ... if not, send me a PM

I don't remember exactly, but I think you need 10 posts to do that...
maybe it is on another forum.
Edit: I am wrong.

It was other forum indeed. To be reckoned with the ability to do that, on this one you need to find the Jade monkey before dawn.

But never revealed the intention of doing it. I suppose the Jade monkey joke is not suitable for all environments.

I wasn't insulting you in any way or not taking well your joke.

LOL. I was convinced the tictac was a reasonable call for me to behave sanely.

Yeah? That shouldn't be too difficult on this site.
Seriously, I can't understand why ANY restriction is imposed on the editing. And it's annoying when you go directly back into a post to correct a typo to find the editing flag comes up. So you edit your posts - so what? If you change something after someone else has quoted you, does it matter?
And I'll add this just to make the edited line come up!!
Well, blow me dahn wiv a fevver, I can't make it come up now!

This is a common feature in most, if not all of the message boards I visit. In one or two places, it's like 1/2 - 1 hour time limit, while on another it's 24 hours - ample time to edit, isn't it? For one, it could be less confusing to someone who joins the thread later and finds one post totally unrelated to the rest of thread. Of course, not everyone does "mass editing" like that, but I'm sure there must at least be a few around.

When revisiting old posts I sometimes find grammar mistakes I want to correct, and I can't do that. I think the edit feature should not expire. Perhaps this can be the subject of a poll...
