Default Hello from Finland

Folks, I signed in here last night after bumping into the forum by accident. I am in mid-30s male music listener who mostly listens to classical and film music with occasional heavy metal thrown in. There are two forms of music I cannot stand: modern jazz and rap.

My preference is on larger scale compositions, i.e. meant for large orchestra and/or choir. I am not too keen on piano, but organ I like. My favourites among "classical" composers are (in no particular order) Beethoven, Prokofiev, Gliere, Bruckner, Vaughan-Williams, Rimsky-Korsakov, Musorgski (Boris Godunov), Glinka (A Life for the Tsar), Sibelius, Bach. Among film composers: Poledouris, Williams, Rozsa, Trevor Jones, Howard Shore, John Debney, David Arnold.

I have no musical training, canīt play any instrument (except perhaps for "Old Man Noah"), canīt read notes but I can easily recognize various tunes.

I read mostly non-fiction military, naval and aviation history along with thrillers from authors like Cussler, Ludlum, Bagley, Lee Child, Wilbur Smith, Conan Doyle.

Hi pasoleati,

Glad to have had you bump into us .

I concur with you about rap ... it can hardly be called "music", at least in my thinking ... noise, possibly. It's quite irritating to me as well, especially when forced to listen to it when traveling about town with the ignorant cretins who play this "rap crap" on their car radios with the annoying thumping bass that makes everything in my car rattle, too.

I'm sure you will enjoy your time in this forum community - look forward to seeing you around.

Hallo Pasoleati. We share a passion for history! I collect every IIWW book I find; in
particular intelligence, spionage, diplomatic and political history, the Holocaust and
biographies. Also fan of Conan Doyle!
