    Hi everyone--
I'm searching for a choral piece that I believe to be a requiem or other funeral song. There is a good chance it is Mozart, but, while it sounds similar to Mozart's Requiem, it is not. Anyhow, I am overall not sure. I've had luck on this board identifying a piece before, hopefully I can do it again! Unfortunately, again, I have to record my horrible attempt at humming it, because the recording has been lost somewhere. Imagine my hum multiplied by 20 or so, with a bit more of a morose, or perhaps hellish, tinge to it. It comes on quite strong in the beginning. Here is a rapdishare link, with the wav (Note, this only allows 10 downloads). http://rapidshare.com/files/173100537/requiem.wav.html . Thank you in advance!

Believe me, I've heard much worse... but on to your question. I believe it is this:

Johann Sebastian Bach - St. Matthew Passion No. 78, "Wir setzen uns mit Tränen nieder"
The complete work is a setting of the Gospel of Matthew chapters 26 and 27 to music.

P.S. – Is your name a reference to the Washington Nationals by any chance?

GREAT! Thank you so much Phoenixshade. This is exactly what I was looking for. This piece really is quite beautiful. I was off on multiple counts, in that it's neither by Mozart nor a requiem, and my humming, after the first bit, wandered, but thank you despite all of that. Haha. My screenname is actually a reference to Nat King Cole, not the Nationals, but I'm a fan nonetheless . Pledge your allegiance! Anyhow, thank you once again.
