    Default Hello!!!

I found this site and I'm reading a lot of interesting discussions here,
I listen classical music since I was born, my parents were professional musicians
my favorite composers are Beethoven, Liszt, Scriabin and I'm always interested in listening new works and read about other composers not in standard repertoire.
and I'm happy to be here now!

Welcome to TC, Zingara! I too have been listening to classical music since I was born - literally! My mom listened to Monteverdi's Orfeo in the delivery room, while giving birth to me. Nice to meet someone else who has been a lifelong fan of classical music.

Thank you all. I'm very happy to read every reply!
Bettina, I don't know what was the first piece I ever heard, but I remember as a child I loved dancing while listening Brahms fourth movement from Piano Concerto 2

I also loved that piece as a child! I love Beethoven and Liszt, need to listen to Scriabin more- what are your favorite pieces by those composers?

And welcome to TC! (That makes 1006 welcomes )

    1006 thank you!
I love Liszt's symphonies and the other symphonic works too, and his b minor piano sonata is my favorite of his piano works.
I listen all Beethoven's Concertos and Sonatas, I also enjoy his quartets and the symphonies (7th is maybe my favorite from them).
I never found a "bad Scriabin" and I think I know all his works quite well, he is really a favorite of mine.
There are more composers I enjoy, Debussy, Stravinsky, Chopin and I'm always happy to discover new ones.
While I'm reading a lot of things here I'm discovering the preferences of some of you. It is great to read there are so much interest in classical music!

What's up? I'm quite new too, on this account at least. I guess we could figure out the odds and ends of this site together, huh? I enjoy lots of Dvořák, Debussy, some Chopin, Holst, and Bizet, and Ravel's a favorite. I also love minor sixths ardently, if my user didn't tell you that. It must be the most distinct and complex interval of all of them, by far. It's deeper than I am.

    Anyway, welcome to you too.

Welcome, Minor Sixthist! It is indeed a lovely interval. Do you have any favorite pieces that use a lot of minor sixths? I enjoy how Chopin used minor sixths in his Waltz in C-sharp minor - it begins with a rising minor sixth that becomes the basis of the main melody. Another "minor sixthy" piece, at least in the beginning, is Beethoven's Tempest Sonata, where the opening gesture C# E A spans a minor sixth.
