    Default Hello from Italy

Hello all from Verona, Italy !

I read this forum for quite some time ... and I always thought it was magnificently structured.
    Finally I decided to participate.

In life my interests are knowledge, art music, visual arts, art cinema, reading, science, philosophy and thinking, ... . But almost everything passionate me, so i like also "low" things.

I'm listening to music since i was born, a consuming passion.
I loved and love many composers (clearly listenings and insights always continue), but few are those for whom i have an obsessive interest ! Among them especially Sergey Prokofiev and Alfred Schnittke. This year, however, I'm only listening to J.S. Bach' music

I'm here mainly for companionship and exchange of interests.

Welcome to TalkClassical, ludwigii. Schnittke recently became one of my favorite composers, and Bach has always been a true joy. Hope you enjoy the forum.

    Welcome ludwigii!

Quite right you are! It is indeed a magnificently structured forum.

Verona seems to be a very cultured city, including producing a fair number of composers, especially considering its small size. Do you also enjoy the music of some of your native sons, such as Salieri, Donatoni, Ruffo and Bernardi, or do you only focus on the more "exotic" German and Russian music? Also, are you a typical resident of Verona with your wide range of interests, and is there a lively classical music scene there?

So far I have not focused on those composers of my fellow citizens, just some occasional listening to Salieri and Donatoni. But it might be a good idea to dedicate myself to the knowledge of composers born in Verona.

I think I constitute an exception, since I've never encountered in Verona people with similar interests of mine. I am lonely and atypical in my choices of life and interests. That's why I came to this forum: D

In Verona we have a famous opera season in the Roman "Arena", and other interesting concert seasons. In the past years I have attended here concerts of famous soloists, including Gidon Kremer, Natalia Gutman, Rostropovich, J.Savall, etc.

Welcome! Well, even if it involves reaching halfway across the globe, it's nice that we can connect with people who have the same passions. I'm glad you found us, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

    Greetings from France, ludwigii.

I see you've had the chance to see Jordi Savall in concert. Lucky man. He is my favorite early music composer/musician.

    Thanks MattB !
Savall is a great artist, despite lately is criticized for his choices of repertoire. I have almost all his recordings.
