Obviously you must make your voice heard in favor of your man Handel in the "Favorite Composers" thread. He has not even a single vote!

Kidding about the wig. I flipped my avatar left-right to get him looking in. The original is on his Wiki page... Gonna change it pretty soon.

Hi HC. That's Samuel Johnson, or "Dr. Johnson" as he is often called (1709-1784). And do you REALLY have a wig??? --Ken

HC... I noticed that Harnoncourt's 4 disc set of Telemann's Taffelmusik is on sale dirt cheap. Have you heard this recording? Thoughts vs Freiburger Barockorchester version on Harmonia Mundi?

Thank you, H.C. ! You can find it on Google, just type "String Quartet", it is on the first page. :) I like your pictures too, and musical taste as well. :)

Thanks for writing. Based on what I've heard so far of bigshot's 78 transfers of the Busch ensemble recording I rather like these Concerti Grossi. I like HIP recordings, so I'll look in to trying those other sets too.

By the way, are you familiar with Kubelik's 1962 recording of Xerxes? I have the opportunity to borrow it from a friend, and while he says it's very good, and while I am very much a fan of Kubelik, it's always good to get another opinion.

I quite like what I heard from the first volume of the Harpsichord Concertos, but I would surely be interested in the sonatas on clavichord. As you are probably well-aware, Ralph Fitzpatrick, who cataloged all of Domenico Scarlatti's sonatas, also performed J.S. Bach's WTC on clavichord. It is indeed a lovely instrument... and one that avoid the janglier sound of some harpsichords that can wear thin after a while.

Haha I just wanted to say that your signature quote gives me a chuckle every time. Very clever.
