A man named Shayne Barker, writer and director of the future-classic indie film The Comic Book Lady, had a big influence on me when I was an impressionable young man.
Digression: Someone recently said that their favorite classical music labels are the "indie labels," just ratcheting up the pretention. On the one hand we lament that more people don’t like classical music, but then we go out of our way to humiliate anyone who approaches it with less than perfect knowledge

I've just watched Igor Stravinsky and Coco Chanel. If it hadn't been for the fact that this film was paced so painfully slow, I would have laughed at the sheer absurdity on display.
It began with the disastrous premier of "The Rite". I thought to myself, "this film could be good", but sadly the rest of the film is scenes of the two main characters walking around aimlessly and occasionally having a good ol' shag.
Half of this film I was poking myself
I've recently been practicing Scott Joplin and Billy Mayerl on the piano. I really want to learn Gershwin too if anyone can recommend me a good album.
It is my theory that one can walk into any establishment and, with a repertoire of Joplin, Mayerl and Gershwin, entertain any class of customers. This is what I want to be able to do.
I've learnt The Entertainer, Maple Leaf Rag and The Cascades by Joplin. This music would do down well in a lower-end bar / tavern. However,
I've just finished listening to the "coffee" cantata, a little delight, especially as I must be numbered among the addicts.
On the whole I've been fairly depressed lately. All kinds of things, but probably not the kinds of things I should reveal online. Anyway, the music has been here for me. Last night, had a bad night in most ways, but then in the middle of it I took the time
