Re: Beethoven ninth joke. Isn't that just awful :) I actually found it readily enough on-line, having remembered it well enough. The way it was told to me, it was in a fairly extended 'Shaggy Dog' format which makes the punch line that much more of a groaner.

I used to be a horn player, but had to give it up because of a physical disablity .I perfromed with so many different groups, orchestras, concert bands, opera companies, chamber ensembles etc,and have played under such well-known conductors as Maurice Peress,Joann Falletta,Arthur Weisberg,
Dalia Atlas,David Alan Miller ,and others.
I'm currently doing work bringing classical music to people with disabilities such as cerebral palsy and elderly infirm people in nursing homes, and am hoping to expand my programs to do more work promoting the populaity of classical music.

Many thanks for your recommendations. I am aware of Arkiv, I have bought many recordings from them. Lear sounds interesting. Frankly, these types fo works are a challenge to me. I find them interesting in some ways because they sound so very different. My background is Baroque, Classical and a to alesser extent, Romantic.

You are a horn player? That's my favourite brass instrument. I have a lot of recordings featuring the natural horn used in Baroque and Classical music. It simply adds much grandeur to the music of these periods, whether it is from Bach 1st Brandeburg or to a Mozart concerto.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

With all your experience, you may enjoy reading about Elgar's method of composition (Enigma) in the Articles section. :)
