Here's a British ad i found - about the Nativity scene... did they have to to put all those pearl/beaded necklaces on that young girl?

Maybe they were trying to make the costume look homemade? I think most angels in Christian mythology might take exception to the idea that they wear pearls.

I think the idea was the angels are supposed to be really shiny and sparkly but the Gates of Heaven are made of pearls so that really seems odd. Why is she wearing material the gates are made of?

It's like that joke about the man who knew Christ as Savior but he was really rich and convinced God to let him bring one bag with him to Heaven. He brought it up there and when he got there he was told, all the things you could bring and you brought pavement? Because the gold he brought was what they make the streets with.

Love your post in the Christian Fellowship about Faith & Doubt, those well-known dance partners, and your own comment afterwards! :) - One of those times I'm really sorry that the TC software can't manage likes in groups. Thanx! :tiphat:

Hi and thank you for the message. Yes the Jackson symphony orchestra is still here but there seems to be more sightings of the dodo bird than performances from them. I'm looking forward to seeing them perform a major piece, when ever that may be. Unfortunately the upcoming calender didn't show anything the last time I checked. Maybe they will be performing the next time you are here. I would love to see something from Mendelssohn, Haydn, or Wagner. Or any cello concerto!
    Take care and God bless!

Thanks for the documentary on Mahler's 3rd, Manxfeeder. I just watched this first one & found it interesting so I've downloaded all 4 to my FB page & Taggart & I will watch them through together. This is a very palatable introduction, with background on the world view & playing from the musical sections. An excellent idea! Best wishes, Mollie

Thank you for asking to be my friend, Manxfeeder. You're the first friend I've had in the world from Nashville. I look forward to learning more about you. Taggart & I are going dancing tonight, so for once I will have to tear myself away from this so-addictive forum, which will be very good for me! I don't know what time of the day it is with you, but I hope you enjoy the rest of it. Best wishes...

yeah well its all greek to me. chinese music, that is

i had a look at the cd notes to the bax 7th sym. it says it was commissioned by america, for the world fair there. first performed by new york phil. under adrian boult. but it had been started before the commission.

to add to the tragic context of this work, not only war was looming, but also bax's fav poet, w.b. yeats, had just died. but as far as i remember, i don't remember it as a tragic work. certainly the ending of it is in good spirits. but i will listen to it in coming days. good to be remined of it, i basically love it.
