I was there on Saturday night. It was terrific. I know the RVW well, that was lovely to hear. I didn't know the War Requiem well, I've only heard it a couple of times before. Very enjoyable, great singing. Thanks for a good evening.

No problem. I merged the thread you posted to, in opera, with the one in the main area and then tidied up your post.

Haha, no problem, I guess you have been rightfully bussy! As for myself, not much, just trying to keep rolling in my general activities, and realizing every day, in new ways, how great Ligeti is! :) Best regards.

Carter, by chance, I came across this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEnoQbNdy-g. Congratulations. I really liked your interpretations. You played Ligeti's Arc en ciel with an incredibly tender touch. I was really impressed, particularly at the beginning, I never imagined it could be played in such an amazing way. Also, you played the Bach with exactly the right touch, the Allemande sounded meditative and very peaceful. The Chopin, the Ravel, and the Ginastera, all were great too. What I find surprising is how you can adjust your touch to the piece and the composer you are playing. The Ravel, Chopin and Ligeti all had very different characters, each one sounded like the correct character for the piece in question. Again, congratulations and success!.

    HI CJP,

I have seen your videos and I think you are a great pianist!

    Can I ask the following:

    1. What's the most difficult piece that you can play?

    2. Have you played any of Schubert's piano works? What are they and why do yo find them tedious?

    3. Have you played Wanderer Fantaise?

    Cheers. :)

Thanks - I just got tired of explaining that I wasn't a young inexperienced girl! Still, at least you guessed who I was...
I hope you have a lovely weekend & are getting on well. Best wishes, Mollie

Having lots of fun with the Tombeau toccata. I love how something happens on every 16th note, with many different colors over the course of the piece, but never losing that propulsive energy.

It is on Canada day
Ooh yes, composition is a great thing to get into, but don't limit yourself to your own style just yet! Compose however you want and it will come. :)
    Mine hasn't come yet :D

I have taken the test, I found it amusing, though I was disappointed when their site crashed on me, and I wasn't going to take the test again. Conclusively, my test results did not get onto TC. :p As for the cognitive parasomnia, it's not as much of a disorder as it is a stress-induced form of dreaming. There's REM (Rapid Eye Movement) and NREM (Non-REM) sleep, the former the most common for dreaming. Dreaming in NREM in itself is somewhat rare, though remembering that dream is even more so. There are different types of those unusual(ly remembered) NREM dreams, and mine are cognitive. This means that I am able to use intellect and problem solving in my dreams - therefore, I can spend the majority of a single night, which is quite a few hours, studying in my sleep. Literally. I've taken exams as practice, they were real questions in an organized setup, so it's not lucid dreaming, though lucid dreaming (in REM) is quite a different story with me. I've got some interesting dreams....

Biotechnology, or biochemistry. Just yesterday I attended a conference by this professor who knew all the biology greats, and it was amazing! I'm also definitely interested, having studied, microbiology, so I have a textbook on that, as well as on organic chem, that I want to learn. So whatever I do, I want to have a science major! :)

Hello, how's Canada lately? I've considered attending college there (undergrad), I'm not too sure now.... Either that or California.
Yup, this is what I do when I'm doing nothing - I ask questions. :D

Did I not message you on your birthday??????
I'm quite well thanks, been trying to work out a new way of composing that works better for me, I'm adopting Cage's seashell method.
How are you? I hear you done great with a prestigious piano competition? :D
