Here's a British ad i found - about the Nativity scene... did they have to to put all those pearl/beaded necklaces on that young girl?

Maybe they were trying to make the costume look homemade? I think most angels in Christian mythology might take exception to the idea that they wear pearls.

I think the idea was the angels are supposed to be really shiny and sparkly but the Gates of Heaven are made of pearls so that really seems odd. Why is she wearing material the gates are made of?

It's like that joke about the man who knew Christ as Savior but he was really rich and convinced God to let him bring one bag with him to Heaven. He brought it up there and when he got there he was told, all the things you could bring and you brought pavement? Because the gold he brought was what they make the streets with.

Ah the moment I saw the thread about Rattle I was about to post that Ligeti video which I discovered the other day. It was great and made me love him immediately! (his performances had never attracted me honestly)

Thanks for 'friending'. I love Mahler who's always compared to Bruckner. In the past year I've become a Brucknerite. :p Mahler #2 is outstanding. Dave

Thanks for the nomination of Ms. Auerbach in the post -1950 poll. I really do not care for the best recording of Beethoven's whatever Symphony. I already have several including an HIP. I want to be exposed to new stuff old as well as currant. I checked out her bio and she was also a prodigy as sell as Alma whatever. Maybe you should start a thread for her.

You asked on STI whether the site was down yesterday or just the front page. It was completely inaccessible to us for several hours, and then we could go anywhere except the front page.
Election Day in the UK! Have a nice day yourself. Best wishes, Mollie

I like your new avatar, Albert - but I keep mixing you up with Becca. I need to get a new pair of spectacles. :)

No, you misunderstand. Taggart had answered - but I wondered what you'd have answered, as your abstract nouns all seem to fit into academic subjects rather than being moods or qualities, which was what I initially envisaged.

Albert - 'Aristotelianism'? You do know that one of the rules of the thread is that you have to be able to answer your own post? More precisely, if a word gets left for three days, it goes back to its poster to supply a piece of music that fits it. Taggart has managed, but just out of curiosity, what would you have posted for 'Aristotelianism'?

    Hi Albert,

I just wanted to say you should try the free trial of JRiver obviously it it won't cost you anything you get 30 to try and and then you can un-install it. Worth trying on your Linux box I have always hated the media players that are available for Linux.

I really like it but I'm not sure it's worth the $68 or whatever the fee is...

Best Wishes to you and your family.

Hi, Albert - the next noun is Mastery. I was just thinking! So Taggart has taken off your inquiring post, leaving you free to do your usual fabulous post. Hope that's okay.
Thanks for putting so many good entries on the Stepping Stones thread. :tiphat:
    Best wishes, Mollie
