Thread: Please help identifying waltz from a film!

The piece starts about 15 seconds into this trailer, for the war film "The Red and the White"

sounds like Shostakovich? But maybe not. It's driving me mad, heh. Please help, much appreciated.

Not Shostakovich. Not classical, ie composed music. Sounds like a piece of popular music.

Certainly not Shostakovich - the first bit is like an old russian tune which certainly might have influenced such music but the second half is like a mash up of a Klezmer and Mariachi - I agree with Jeremy, tis a popular piece.
