Applicants sought for RNCM’s high-flying conductors’ scheme
The Royal Northern College of Music will be holding the annual auditions for its Junior Fellowship in Conducting Scheme in February 2011.

The RNCM scheme is widely regarded as the UK’s finest programme for conductors. The benefits for the successful candidate include:
  • Working with Sir Mark Elder, holder of the International Chair in Conducting at the RNCM and Music Director of the Hallé Orchestra, and Visiting Tutor in Conducting Mark Shanahan and RNCM Head of Conducting Clark Rundell
  • Significant practical experience conducting RNCM’s Symphony, Chamber and Concert Orchestra’s, Opera and other ensembles
  • Masterclasses and tuition from guest conductors, who have included Gianandrea Noseda, Jac van Steen, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Paul Daniel, Martyn Brabbins and André de Ridder
  • A yearly stipend which is currently UK £9,000
  • Opportunities, subject to agreement, for engagements with the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic & Manchester Camerata orchestras

The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate with professional experience. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 30 November 2010. Auditions (by invitation only) will be held in Manchester on 4, 5 and 6 February 2011.
