Anybody have a reliable freeware suggestion? Or a programme that can burn audio CD's from these files? I can google for it, but that gave me a nasty piece of malware last time when I downloaded one of the resulting programmes. Thanks.
Though these are by no means as professional as most non-free software, they work 100% and most importantly, they are ABSOLUTELY FREE. LONG LIVE FREE SOFTWARE.
I'm curious as to why you need to downgrade lossless music as you can burn ape or falc on cd's also.
If it is for the sake of space and putting more pieces, works on 1 cd Just download Dbpoweramp it pretty much let's you convert every type of audio to whatever other type you need.
I suggest you keep your ape and make a .cue file so you would end up with a real-like cd copy that is 99,9% close to the real thing!!!! In this case you can use Burnnn. Tips, when you burn music on cd always use a small speed like 4x for optimal result .
Burnnn.net It needs 2 or 3 n I don't quite remember but anyway Google is your friend lol
My current CD burner does not recognize FLAC or APE. I know I can google but like I said, that can easily result in malware like I had ladt time. Took me a few days and various resets to get rid of that persistent bugger. Thanks for the Burnnnn suggestion.
No problem, I personnally use burnn since his debut and it let you burn and it has never let me down.In the few times it did not worked it had to do with a corruption in the file or the .cue file was wrongly written. For the flac it has always work for me. I'm on win xp 32 bit sp3 with an old tech...
FOr malware , there is malwarebyte and I use avg internet security 2011 for anti-virus and firewall.
Also ¨spybot search and destroy¨ is something I use to scan like malwarebyte from time to time.
Flac are most of the time 1400kbps and mp3 are 320 at max so you loose tons of data.
By the way Has someone ever said to you you look like Jim carrey. same smile haha lol. cheers
Forget those above, you need a small little program called Foobar which can convert Flac or APE to MP3 of many different bit-rates as well as simply play them back.
Free, and converts between FLAC, WAV, MP4, MP3, ape, Ogg Vorpis, AIFF, Apple Lossless, and others. Also very good at batch processing (ie. I use it to convert a folder from FLAC to Apple Lossless, add cover art, and import into an iTunes playlist).
@Art Rock, if you already have foobar, all you need is the plugin called "audio cd writer" from the component list: http://www.foobar2000.org/components
to install, place the dll file in the 'components' folder of your foobar directory in program files, restart foobar.
to use, right-click any file(s), choose convert/write audio cd...
ps. converting to mp3 before burning defeats the purpose of having lossless files in the first place!
My favorite is dBpoweramp, but foobar is also great... and nothing beats just using the dead simple flac decoder to extract wav files.
