I was looking for this. :)
I have joined TC because for some reason, after a years absence, I can no longer access my old stomping ground in another forum. It seems to have evaporated! But I see folks in here who I know from that old place, so I feel comfy already!
Yes, I am a Hans Rott DEVOTEE, a Bruckner, Mahler, Sibelius diehard...you know where I'm coming from. For some reason, I don't know what, I don't much like my Avatars hero, Wagner. I also try very hard but generally fail to accept the Second Viennese School stuff. And when I listen to a Beethoven Symphony, I cackle with the same delight that brought me to Classical Music.
At school I played violin, gave it up so I could watch Batman which was on at the same time as my lessons. I also learned Cello, but gave that up too after I LOST MY CELLO during a school sports day! Yes. The mind boggles.
I am only wee, 5' 7", bald, and may wreak upon Talk Classical some of the most optimistic depression you'll ever encounter.
:tiphat:

Welcome to the forum. Yes, the other forum seems to have gone under. Haven't been able to access it for a couple of days now. Anyway, this forum is different, there are a lot of newbies, some stay, some don't. Hope you enjoy your time spent here.

P.S. - Another great composer from around that generation you mention was Hugo Wolf - I really like his songs and the delectable Italian Serenade. Maybe you already know about him, but he was great, pity he died so young (& quite psychologically unwell like Rott - whose music I have never heard as yet)...
