Thread: Band Conductors?

Hi everybody,
I'm looking for names of the "greatest" BAND conductors. I've found a lot about orchestra conductors, but not much in terms of wind band. I'm starting a Master's in Wind Band Conducting this August, and I'm hoping to find some inspiration from the "great ones" in order to better refine my conducting style.

Frederick Fennell, and his successor Donald Hunsberger led the Eastman WInd Ensemble. Many recordings, Fennell in the 50's and 60's, Hunsberger in the 80's and 90's.

They're the two that come to mind right away.

I don't think you could find recordings (acoustic) of Sousa leading the Marine Corps band, but that would probably be your best all-time band conductor.
