    He?

I suppose it must be famous, shame on me in a moment it will turn out that it comes from some most obvious, well known opera that I never heard.

It's called "Caro mio ben", attributed to Giuseppe Giordani.

So it's not that famous. Thank you.

    No problem.

It's sung often but it's not part of any opera I know of, and it's certainly not as famous as Di quella pira, O mio babbino caro, E lucevan le stelle, et cetera.

Also, Caro mio ben is a song, by the way. It's not from any opera.

And, in these parts, it's a standard repertoire piece that might be required for most all beginning voice students ... much in the same fashion that Für Elise (Beethoven) is sometimes required for beginning piano students.

    Lovely piece

    Lyrics as sung

    Caro mio ben,
    credimi almen,
    senza di te

    languisce il cor,
    caro mio ben,
    senza di te

    languisce il cor
    Il tuo fedel
    sospira ognor

    Cessa, crudel,
    tanto rigor!
    Cessa, crudel,

    tanto rigor,
    tanto rigor!
    Caro mio ben,

    credimi almen,
    senza di te
    languisce il cor,

    caro mio ben,
    credimi almen,
    senza di te

    languisce il cor

    Translation

    Caro mio ben,

    My dear beloved,

    Credimi almen,

    believe me at least,

Senza di te languisce il cor.

    without you my heart languishes.

    Il tuo fedel

    Your faithful one

    Sospira ognor.

    always sighs;

    Cessa, crudel,

    cease, cruel one,

    Tanto rigor!

    so much punishment!

    Caro mio ben,

    My dear beloved,

    Credimi almen,

    believe me at least,

Senza di te languisce il cor.

We actually played it in my wind band. A very charming piece.

I think charming is a very good word to describe it.

What a wretched hypocrisy of her to sing such words.
