There are also some Amazon reviews worth checking, this one praises the open-back natural sound (the main reason I bought them) but experiences some charging issue (cannot comment on that). I guess if yours are new ones and covered by warranty then it's a safe purchase.
Thanks, very useful link. V2 is 40 hours. When I go for them, it's V2 I need to get.

Will buy from Amazon UK who have best CS on the planet, so any charging &cetera problems and I can return them.

I am currently using Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro at home and Sennheiser IE 40 Pro while going out. The two are at close price range and I think both are good deal. I have a few other mediocre headphones/earpods, but I put them away after I tried the Beyer and Senn.

Both phones have a bit over-boosted upper range and sound bright, especially the Beyer DT990, which could sound piercing if the recording played has a problem with voice balance. They work well after some simple EQ. While playing large orchestral pieces (especially well-recorded ones), I find that the over-ear DT990 Pro outcompetes the in-ear IE40 Pro easily. DT990 is miles ahead in terms of soundstage, dynamic and instrument separation, not even close.

I haven't tried a lot of headphones/earpods, but I would prefer over-ear phones to in-ear phones if I want to listent to great sounding classical music recordings without considering portability and amplifier.

At the other end of the price spectrum, I wanted a cheap set of earbuds for general listening and I just bought some SoundMagic E10Cs and they're great. For sub £40 earbuds their sound is impressive. Usually at the budget end you usually lose at the very bottom end, with bloated or artificial-sounding bass and rubbish top end. These offer a punchy but realistic sound. Very similar to the Betron YSMs but more realistic sounding in the bass which is tighter. For once the reviews were pleasingly spot-on. Nice.

Been visiting relatives the past week and all my listening has been headphone. I have yet to find a set where after an hour they get uncomfortably hot. I don’t like earbuds because I feel like someone is sticking fingers in my ears. Can’t someone designated that comes with a little cooling fan? I would sacrifice a little SQ for comfort

Are you using the "on-ear" or "over-ear" headphones? Closed-back or open-back?

    1) "Over-ear" headphones do not touch your ears at all which helps during long listening sessions.
    2) Open-back headphones do not have to press firmly against your head (or your ears) for best lower frequencies reproduction when compared to closed-back ones.
