One does not have to pay hundreds of $$ for a good set of headphones. More $$ does not translate into being better in all cases. Before you buy, be sure to listen for yourself if at all possible. If not, then select one with a good range rating (example: 20 to 20kHz).

I'm not going to recommend any particular brand, as that is always a personal preference ... best advice is to use your ears ... if you like what you hear, then it is ok.
I do have a sony with noise cancelling. Usually the sound is not that good...I thought mine were acceptable until my son (he's a musician) lend me his...Sennheiser 600. It doesn't cancel the noise like my Sony but the sound is excellent! I bought them used (like new) on ebay for 300$. A good price because news are 550$. I haven't received them yet...I'll tell you mare when I'll get them.

    Best

Like most modern Sennheisers the fit doesn't suit people with big heads very well. If the fit works for you and you like open headphones then it's a good choice.

Not sure what you mean by 'fit'. I am a fathead (7-3/8 hat size) and my 595's are quite comfortable. The squeeze is maybe stronger than it needs to be, but, being circumaural, the pressure is on bone.
I spent a fortune on deodorant before I realized that people don't like me anyway.

I've got a biggish head (7 1/4") and have no problem with the fit of my Sennheiser 650s. These and other top end headphones are what are known as high impedance and normally need a headphone amplifier. I listen mainly to music stored on my computer so I have a digital/analoque converter (MusicStreamer II) to avoid the limitations of the computer's sound card and an amplifier (Pro-ject head box II) and am very happy with the set up.

Spain????????? I'm not Spanish but Argentinian, I've been living in Canada for almost 30 years now.

I received yesterday my Sennheiser 600 (really like new) that I paid 300$ on a bid of ebay. They're awesome!

Just ordered a pair of Beyerdynamics T1s (an upgrade from my 880s). I'll post impressions after burn in. I'm also considering the BD headphone amp vs. tube, although my Rotel preamp delivers very good output to the headphone jack so I'm going to take my time.

So far--very early in the burn in--they are excellent. A little less open air than my other cans and a little heavier, so not as comfortable. Still that is the only negative. Smooth and detailed in the mid-range. The little things show up--the sound of the room around the music, the buzz on the strings, you can hear the pluck of the harpsichord string. At times they seem a tad congested in the mid-range but that is just because so many of the inner voices come through.

Output from the Rotel cd player drives these well, but I do plan to pick up a dedicated headphone amp for the additional clarity. The cabling is a serious as any I've seen on headphones short of custom rewiring. Solid workmanship, nice design..these are a winner.

Just curious but what kind and brand of headphones do you folks listen to with? Or do you not use headphones?

Sennheiser HD 201. Got 'em for about 25 bucks from Amazon, and have been very satisfied indeed!

Sennheiser HD465 - I'm no techie but I've had them for years and found them more than adequate. I use headphones more than speakers - partly through necessity as I live in a flat and I don't want to **** off the neighbours directly to my right and below and partly because I like the way headphones have more of a cocooning effect which enables me to concentrate on the music better.
