The Aram Khachaturian International Competition Organizing Committee determines the following prizes for violin specialty:

First Prize – $15 000 (US dollars) and Laureate Diploma

Second Prize – $10 000 (US dollars) and Laureate Diploma

Third Prize – $5 000 (US dollars) and Laureate Diploma

Non-prize-winning finalists will each receive a $2,000 grant and a Diploma.


The sum of prizes will be given in Armenian drams.
All prizes are subject to the state taxes.

1. The jury's decisions are final and cannot be reviewed.
2. The Jury, acting within the limits of the number of prizes to be awarded, has the right to refrain from awarding all prizes, divide the prizes between performers of the third round.
3. The Jury will have the right to award special diplomas to the best accompanists of the Competition and to present each with a prize of $ 500.
4. Armenian and foreign public organizations, artists’ unions, mass media, institutions and companies may award special prizes upon approval by the Organizing Committee. These prizes must be approved before the beginning of the Competition.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
The 2012 Violin Edition of the Competition is open to musicians of any nationality who are born in the period of June 6, 1980 – June 6, 1996.

HOW TO APPLY
After completing the online application form on the Competition’s official website (www.akhic.am), candidates must send the following documents to the Competition’s e-mail address info@akhic.am by the 15th of March, 2012.
* Two (2) letters of reference in English from two famous musical personalities or from a famous musician and a music institution;
* One (1) photocopy of the passport;
* One (1) photograph (of 2Mb minimal size) for use in the competition booklet;
* A brief biography in English;
* Program for all the rounds of the Competition (in English);
* Admission fee payment order.

ADMISSION FEE
Admission fee - €100 is fixed for the participation in the Competition.

The participants’ application documents and fee will not be returned.

COMPETITION CONDITIONS
The Aram Khachaturian International Violin Competition consists of 3 rounds: 1st round, 2nd round (semifinal) and 3rd round (final).
The Competition Organizing Committee has the right to reject the Application which does not correspond to the Competition Schedule.
Candidates will receive notice of their acceptance or rejection by April 1st, 2012 at the very latest. Participants who are permitted to participate in the Competition are requested to send the final variant of their program by the 20th of April, 2012. If the participant does not send the finalized variant, the Secretariat will publish the program which was enclosed to the documents.
The invitation of the Organizing Committee with the arrival date the participants will get no later than May 1, 2012.
The order of appearance of all rounds participants will be determined by a random draw, the procedure of which will be decided by Competition officials.
In case of absence or being late for the draw the participant is considered as disqualified.
After the draw the program of the Competition could be changed only on the permission of the Jury.
All the rounds are open to the general public.
Each composition may be performed only in one round.
All the compositions are performed by heart.
Not more than 8 participants are allowed for the 2nd round.
Not more than 4 participants are allowed for the final round.
All the finalists of the Competition are obliged to give a gratis performance on the closing ceremony of the Competition and the concerts of the Laureates.
The finalists will perform with the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (Art Director and Chief Conductor Sergey Smbatyan).
All the rights for live broadcast, audio- and video-recording of the Competition and the Gala-Concert of the Laureates as well as sale and distribution of the mentioned materials belong to the Competition Officials. The Laureates participate without honorarium.
Candidates must forfeit all recording, broadcasting and distribution rights of any kind to the AKHIC, together with all artists’ resale rights, for an unlimited period. By completing the official entry form at www.akhic.am, candidates agree to release all rights regarding the future use of recordings of their performance(s) and agree to perform free of charge at a benefit activity, if requested by the Competition officials.


INFORMATION FOR FOREIGN PARTICIPANTS
After receiving the Invitation the foreign participants should apply to the Armenian Embassy or Consulate in their respective countries for visa. The participants can get visa also at the Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan.
Over the course of the Competition period, candidates will be offered free accommodation with a stay at a hotel. The Competition will not cover costs related to travel and accommodation, or other expenses, for anyone accompanying candidates in Yerevan for the competition.
Those participants who do not pass to the 2nd or 3rd rounds but are willing to stay by the end of the Competition should bare the boarding and lodging expenses themselves.
