Holst had great foresight in leaving out Pluto (though it hadn't been discovered yet). It has since been demoted from full planet status. But we need a couple more movements, perhaps from less talented composers, for Pluto and Ceres as well.
Colin Matthews supplied Pluto - see the Naxos recording with Lloyd-Jones and the Scottish Nat.O. Personally, I don't think it adds much to the score. I believe there is another completion with one or two of the other recent planets discovered.
My second favorite planet in our solar system would have to be Pluto because it fits my requirement of being extemely far away from the other humans, whom I simply have no use for.
Marlon Brando had it right-living alone on his own island. Paradise!!!
As far as the score to the Planets, I find it dull. Two or three listenings is more than enough.
I remember hearing once, that Holst considered Saturn his favorite. I don't have any proof to back that up, but anyhoo...
