I can never have enough of this opera, and this is a very pretty looking production, but vocally, only Amelia and Paolo stand out. Simon and Fiesco are both a bit underpowered. Alastair Miles is that unfortunate type of British bass who has a dry, unattractive voice. If only he was the other type, the amazing powerhouse, like Lloyd, Tomlinson or Peter Rose...

Simon at least looks the part and acts well, and he works in tender moments, but he lacks the thunder needed for the council.

The tenor is... some generic tenor who parks and barks, and looks like some 50 year old bourgeois. You'd normally cast him as some lesser tenor role in Meistersinger, at most.

One detail I really liked was Simon having model ships in his room and a half-finished one on a table. Someone actually thought to give him a hobby that makes perfect sense!

Don Giovanni, Krips, Siepi, della Casa, Vienna 1955. Delightful.

Sound fairly listen-able for a 1946 recording. Here is a sample.

Yep. If I can't find decent album art I try to make my own and I like this one.
