Default DG's Complete Beethoven Edition (87 CDs) for sale...

    Hi all,

I'll be selling my DG Complete Beethoven Editon (87 CDs). I was going to put it up on eBay, but thought I'd give TCers first dibs. If I get a serious offer I may not put it up on eBay at all.

I purchased this set about 15 years ago; ordered directly from Germany.

All booklets, the shelving unit, book and cardboard carrying case included. Overall it is in Good condition. Individually it ranges from Fair to Like New. I recently burned all these CDs onto my computer as Lossless files with no problem. However, one or two may have some (very slight) discrepancy playing on a regular CD player. But I am sending several CDs to a professional company to have them refinished into spanking new playing surfaces. That may well solve the problem. (Receipts will be included) Regardless, I have a sealed replacement CD for the exact same performance that seems to not play perfectly (same label, same artists, just a different packaging).

I can also include a flash drive with all the music uploaded, including cover art! But only as Apple Lossless files.

This set has become quite a rare item apparently. It's currently selling for upwards of $2,500 used: http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Beeth.../dp/B000001GZ3 Though I'd wonder about the veracity of the condition listed. (I've actually seen some Sellers claim that no booklets came with the set for instance!) I feel my qualification of "Good" is imminently fair and accurate.

I also think I'm giving a great deal when I say I'll accept offers of a $1,000 (and even under!) so long as they are legit and immediate.

One thing -- I'd rather not ship to the UK. Unless you want to pay the astronomical fee for this weighty item.

For US buyers, please factor in $25 for UPS Ground shipping and an extra $25 if you want the flash drive.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

This is a great collection of music. But it reminds me of the old Encyclopedia Britannica, which I used to love. They went out of the business of printing books . . It is all online now.

Yes, you can purchase most of these "songs" as mp3 tracks. But you won't get the beautiful glass shelving unit, the carrying case, the extensive booklets with illustrations, the lavish book or the beautifully designed individual CD cases and CDs. Anyway, my price is actually cheaper than buying this set as individual Mp3's.

    Here's a special offer for TCer's: $800 FLAT. (add 25 for shipping)

If no takers, I'm putting it up on eBay and after that it's whoever bids the highest.

PS -- I just sent 42 CD's to Azuradisc -- a disc refinishing facility. I'll have them back in a few days. They'll be in spotless shape, like BRAND NEW.

That even deserves a response? Is that your thing? You go around and post inanity and think it's funny? Please don't waste the space and the air.

PS -- I'm putting it up on eBay next week. I think this thread is done.

In a friendly way I suggest a very low opening bid. CDs don't sell for anywhere near what they did three years ago. The market for used CDs is almost flat.

It was the silly threads int he community forum that turned me inane. Ignore me if I post anything stupid.

Okay, good news for those who were interested in this set. The buyer inexplicably failed to pay. So I am able to list it again. It'll be up for a week. Starting bid is a meager 400 bucks! Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200765633285
