Lightbulb 1,332 Musicians Working To Renew The World's Love For Local Music

We put a call out to musicians around the world to make their mark on the map in the name of laying a claim to the sound of their community.

This initiative is now 7 months online and has reached 1,332 musicians in every corner of the globe.

How far can we take this?

At first glance the idea seems to be toward accumulating a mapped index which will be a mountain of people advertising themselves, without, it seems, any filter as to caliber, quality.

So is that it? Do people sign up, for a fee, to basically advertise themselves?

It may prove an interesting network for musicians to meet other local musicians, but right now I cannot imagine it of much other benefit.

If it includes amateur orchestras, there are very few in the UK that are a good advert for community music. So I think a filter is needed.

That will spawn the inevitable blog reviews, which are too often more of the same, i.e. the unqualified and less than discerning disseminating their opinion via the www.
