    Default There's something strange happening

There's something odd going on here. The first time I went to the link provided above in the OP, it directed me to this site:

    [url removed]

. . . which is the site for a psychotherapist named Susan Vichick Johnson. Is the thread starter, Carter Johnson, posting this on behalf of a relative?

The next time I clicked the link, a recovery site called Morningside popped up. I would appreciate if a moderator would tell me what is going on here, or at least look into this.

Is Talk Classical in collusion with outside social agencies? Please explain why this material is on your site.

Well, I thought I was on my way to solving it, but apparently not. For the past week or so at TC, my browser IE8 has been hanging constantly when page-loading. I suspect it may be Facebook javascript, but am not sure. Any changes? And solutions?

Item re Facebook code, often with invalid certificate, slowing webpage loading. The one I'm seeing here at TC contains "static.ak.facebook.com". I do not use Facebook. More info on Facebook code is available via Google search.

That was odd ... upon checking the forum settings, I found several settings that were enabled for Facebook, but overall we don't allow connection to this site from any Facebook account.

I have disabled those three settings for the time being ... so the "like" button for Facebook no longer appears on forum pages.

As to the slow page loading, that is a browser issue. This site must be able to download cookies onto your computer in order to run properly. If the browser cache is full, cookies cannot be downloaded and users, when logged in, can experience strange anomalies when viewing this site. If the browser cannot accept cookies, it will hang as you describe above.

The 'cache' (where cookies are stored) works like FIFO (first in, first out) ... if a site cannot put all their informational cookie into the cache, parts of it will boot out the others, leaving "crumbs" our on the doorstep, which then results in poor performance and thus slow down page loads.

Also try a different browser ... I use FF exclusively.

We have also heard of universities, public libraries, and even some WiFi cafes that will not allow cookies to be downloaded onto their systems from foreign countries (our domain is [dot] DK, even though Talk Classical shows as [dot] COM). We have absolutely no control over those kinds of settings - one would need to contact those respective 'network nannies' to resolve those issues.

Every PC user needs to do periodic maintenance on their systems to keep then in good running order. Just as we change the oil in our cars, or oil the sprockets on our bikes, or even water the plants in our yards, our PC's also need the same attention and TLC.

We have both of our forums set up in such a manner that it set up so that the cookies we install on your PC's are deleted once the user logs off. I wish all sites would do that.

Dump your history and all cookies today ... be kind to your PC

Thanks for your reply and information, Krummhorn. For whatever reason(s), my browser is now working fine at TC.

Krummhorn, I'm seeing that static.facebook problem again. Some TC pages are much slower to load because of.

It appears to be a problem with Facebook ... they are trying to get your browser to accept a new certificate to replace an older one perhaps.

We do not have the FB platform enabled on this site - all that means is that members cannot log in to their TC account via FB.

Do you get this same error with a different browser?

Have you recently cleared your cache (deleted all cookies)?

Thanks for the reply. Apparently, an unbeknownst social network button "addthis" was the culprit on my computer. Once removed, the aforementioned problem cleared.
