My grandmother loved operetta; fond memories come back with every further exploration of the art form.
That is a wonderful opera and a wonderful production. You should also get this one, which I like even better:

Someone mentioned this in a different TC forum in a thread I think was called "Anything Boris," and as a sequel to Boris Godunov and since I have no Dvorak operas, I had to get it. It is very good!

I didn't get the one that I put up in the end. I got the one from Opernhaus Zurich with Piotr Beczala and Julia Kleiter, beautiful! I know it cuts out most of the dialogue, but when the music is this beautiful, who's complaining? I could hear Madama Butterfly and Turandot in the exotic moments.

Re your other recommendation, I've read that it's a bit out of sync, not so comfortable with that.

Hmmm, I didn't notice, but then maybe I am a bit out of sync, so the two cancelled and it was just right for me.

I have a lifelong ambiition to listen/watch all of Verdi's operas, so this is my birthday present from my family (it isn't until 12th October though). Verdi is my favourite opera composer.

This was on my keep-an-eye-out-for-a-deal list and finally I got it for $17.01 shipped, new! That with the help of $1.24 in Ebay Bucks.

Now you need the Tamas Pal recording of Falstaff which is IMO Salieri's best opera. It's amazing.
