^^

My condolences for those 4 and half hours I suppose that you'll never get back.

It wasn't in the plan of Philips to do a release of the complete Bayreuth canon. The could have planned to record one of the 60s productions with Schippers or Böhm.

No need, I happily purchased it because I liked what I heard. I also knew I would get flak here because the opinion here that i found in searches was not good. But the recording has good reviews by some:

Saw it on ebay, like new, for $15 so picked it up.
I liked the way the acts are set up.
Acts 2 and 3 whole on their own disc.
Act 1 split between discs 1 and disc 2, in a decent spot.
Plus excellent sound and notes.

Lock-down is a blessing in some ways for opera-lovers. :) Here's what I got at Amazon...

Poster Formal wear Font Publication Vintage clothing

With a cast like this, a ''stand-and-deliver'' performance of Aida really doesn't matter.

Coat Entertainment Publication Poster Movie

Part of an ambition to get to know the operas of Massenet better.

Sleeve Gesture Publication Font Jacket

Same reason as for Manon, acting upon Rogerx's recommendation on the ''What opera are you currently listening to/watching''? thread a few days ago. Kaufmann is my favourite tenor of today, anyway!
