    Default Aida on blu-Ray!

Any suggestions? Trying to get really immersed in this opera. I am currently watching a YouTube from Paris 2013, but as subtitles are in french I have a separate libretto pulled up on my iPhone which a nuisance. Plus neither the Amneris nor the Aida are particularly inspiring in this version.....

I don't know myself but according to Amazon, all the ones I see have pretty terrible reviews.

I don't know if there's a blu-ray version but in TC's Top 100 recommended versions this was second.

avoid blu-rays because the best performances were made when no blu-ray technique was around.

The TDK version noted above is superb, but it is not comercially available anymore, unless one gets a used copy.

One that is available on Blu ray and which I reviewed on amazon.com as "Spectacular" is on Opus Arte from the Arena di Verona, with Hui He as a near perfect Aida and Marco Berti as Rhadames. Ambrogio Maestri plays Amonasro and Daniel Oren conducts. At $20.64 from amazon sellers I think it is a real deal for an exceptional Aida.

I just checked again on the TDK version, which, although not Blu ray is an excellent performance from the tiny (300 seat) Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Busetto, Verdi's home town. It is still available from amazon.com.uk for `13.95 pounds. Search under "Aida Kate Aldrich".

The one at the Arena Di Verona is not only Bluray, but also 3D!
