Default Greeting from Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin

    Hello,

Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin is a weekly radio program that airs on WFMT classical radio station in Chicago, as well as across America and the world. Each week Bill examines a different topic, sometimes focusing on a single composer, place or time period. Some programs cover a theme such as first works by great composers, works inspired by the changing of seasons or major compositions left incomplete. Exploring Music, while run by Bill and the WFMT team, is always looking for feedback and suggestions. If you're interested, please visit our website or leave your comments here. We appreciate your consideration and feedback.

    Sincerely,
    The Exploring Music team

P.S. : Take a look at our most recent Youtube video on symphonies.

I've been a fan of Bill McGlaughlin's shows (both this one and the earlier "Saint Paul Sunday") for a long time. McGlaughlin, a former trombonist with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the symphony I frequent most often, and a sometime conductor always provides an entertaining program, regardless of his topics. If some one of you has yet to catch this show, try to do so.

So, I just searched McGlaughlin's name to see if we had any threads previously re the Exploring Music show -- and, obviously, WE DO!

I have been listening to Bill's show since I started listening to classical, several years ago. I absolutely adore this program.

I hope to invigorate this thread for (1) new interest (without a doubt, check it out [even free programs!]) and (2) to question what others think of it, if you are familiar with it.

Living in Eugene, the local classical station played Exploring Music regularly every day; thus, I was introduced to it by circumstance. But that was over four years ago. And today, I am still listening to programs -- depending on what music I am currently interest in or learning about -- and the commentary/analysis/exploration, you cannot beat it.

Truly love this program. Have to share my enthusiasm and hope others are equally enthralled as to share their opinions.

I heard this show for the first time last week "Rimsky Korakov and his pupils" and it is indeed a wonderful program. His selection for Scheherazade - The Chicago Symphony Orchestra/ Fritz Reiner is the best version I have heard.

I'm a fan. I've been listening to the show for 6-7 years now. Bill turned me onto William Schuman.
