I have a small supply of old ones I got from Quad, who are close to me here in Huntingdon.
No gold plating and the tension is applied by a formed tensile wire insert, but they are the most reliiable bananas I have ever had.
And joy of joys, Canford Audio are selling them still.
If you are interested, go to canford and dig around in their connector section.
You`ll recognise them as soon as you see them.
Brick outhouse is the wordf that comes to mind.
Naughty boy that I am, I used some of my stash of lead solder to join them to the wire.
Doesn`t seem to migrate away from the joint when under pressure like lead-free.
And my brain is already pretty well damaged anyway....
