Default Valentina Lisitsa vs Toronto Symphony

Lisitsa says she was scheduled to play with the Toronto Symphony, but she claims they have replaced her with another pianist because of her Twitter feed. Apparently, she twitters about the war in her home country the Ukraine. Now she has asked her fans for support to make the Toronto Symphony let her play.

Damn politics, always getting in the way.
"What's intended in this end section of course is a sort of, how shall I say, exhilirating immersion in total negation - which itself produces a sort of sublimity." - Brian Ferneyhough

Perhaps she could set up a piano in front of the music facility and play throughout the concert.

I recommend Sharik's article. I'd heard about this but there's quite a bit of detail there. Very upsetting!

Many Americans, of course, know little of the Ukraine and simply assume US policy is a direct reflection of God's given truth. The reality is often less attractive.

Just one remark, from someone who´s been following the Ukraine / Russia-Ukraine conflicts very, very intensely:
as regards media players, there are better sources than RT.com

The Canadian paper Globe and Mail has an article on this as well, very similar in content.

I follow it too. Frankly I regard RT as one the most reliable sources. Do you mind telling me which those better ones are?

Loose lips can still "sink ships".

Promotion of a concert, promotion of an artist is always business related. IOW their goals are to sell tickets.

Once Upon A Time, it was considered and even believed that, "There is no such thing as bad publicity."

In today's ever-increasing serious world, chance-taking has decreased considerably.

In terms of threat, there is no small threat with regard to possible impedance or destruction. All must be taken seriously.

Well, the Mainstream Media has it's issues and biases, but at least they aren't directly owned by the Russian Government.

There is some irony here regarding this Artist. She effectively launched her career using 21st century Social Media--using youtube and then Twitter and Facebook--sort of 'bypassing' the traditional route to fame in the Classical Music World. Now, she seems to have impaired her career using Social Media.

I hesitate to rely on wikipedia for 'evidence' but its page for RT claims it is a state-funded media source and that there are many doubts about its reliability and objectivity.

Whenever I watch it, there seems to be little difference between propaganda and their 'opinion'

Are you serious? You recommend an article from Russian source about Ukraine... Would you read an article, published in Germany in 1940 to know the truth about what is going on in Britain or US?

This bad-smelling scandal was organized by Lisitsa with very clear purpose - to attract attention to herself in a new viral-style campaign. I would recommend to read an opinion from true great modern artist, Andrei Gavrilov:

No, it is owned by Western Governments or corporations. I can't see that this is an improvement to say the least. Especially not if I examine its record on recent news issues, including the one in question here. But of course, all this depends to a no small degree on ones perspective and political preferences. And there is no doubt that RT presents a lot of propaganda. But as far as I can see it serves as a welcome counterweight to the much heavier propaganda dished out by dominant (Or euphemistically "mainstream") Western media . And overall I do think it is more reliable.
My reason for asking was that somebody who knows so much about this topic surely must have some advice regarding alternate media outlets, in which I am interested.

If you are willing to put your trust in a Media Outlet which is a direct descendent of Pravda, be my guest. My viewing of RT suggests that it is a slicker version of the Gulag Weekly.
Is news from an outlet owned by the likes of Putin preferable to one owned by the likes of Rupert Murdoch? Ugh, what a choice. I concur with you that finding Media Outlets that are relatively unbiased by Political or Corporate interests can be a challange.

The facts given in RT seem clear; most are in quotes from Lisitsa, as might be published anywhere (and have been). Recommending an article is not the same as blessing its source. In this case, it's the article that was referred to, but some seem more interested in attacking the source than in addressing the article itself.

BTW, the orchestra has now cancelled the entire concert and put forth its views on the matter.
