I can't amend the article. I would have to request a moderator to do it and I would have to have a compelling reason. You get a small window to edit your article and once it's gone, you can't edit it anymore. Once it's there, it's always there.

What statement? Apparently my apology and admission that I was out of line didn't cover that statement.

3. I cited the published findings of an expert in the field (Mr. Quarrington) to refute your statement. That is how research is done.

I don't care what he said. I apologized because I simply realized I said something I should not have said. That I caused offense making an assertion where offense was inevitable. It was an unfair thing to do so I apologized vow not to do it again.

4. “While you may encounter good and bad players who learned either Simandl or Rabbath, you will never encounter a bad bassist who has mastered Simandl. Once he or she masters it, they will inevitably be good because the techniques are sound. Rabbath, on the other hand, can be mastered by a student who still sounds bad”. That is a ridiculous statement, by any standard.

I totally agree. That's why I retract that statement and apologize for it and will not make any future statements of that type. I can only apologize so many times before it becomes a bore for others to read. I said I was wrong, I said I was sorry--I have to assume you don't accept that apology. I can't help that. It's all I can do.

5. Calling people names (such as idiot) does not help your argument.

Anybody who says one system is inherently worse than the other is an idiot and that includes me. Study whichever one you want to. Study them both--many people have.

Nowhere has anyone stated, “Simandl is bad”.

Oh, yes, they have. And they are as wrong as I was to put Rabbath's method down. Really, can we give this a rest? I apologized, I said I was wrong, I can't edit the post anymore. Just give it a rest, please.

Finally, I should commend you on your passion for the double bass, which I share with you, passion which is evident in your article.
