Bizet - Pearl Fishers/Bjorling & Merrill - Ya know, as-GREAT (maybe immortal?) as this partnership is, there were, actually, two versions from the virtual Golden Age of singing. (1) - with Gigli and Giuseppe de Luca, and (2) - Caruso, himself, with the forgotten baritone - Mario Ancona. We should be very glad that all 3 are still available to listen to, enjoy, and learn from.

BTW, if we're considering Bjorling (almost 60 years after his untimely death), let's not forget he … with de los Angeles (Butterfly and/or Boheme) … or with Madame Tebaldi, in Puccini. If anyone can suggest that THESE THREE could-be surpassed, since their primes, I would certainly desire to KNOW, by whom.

I love many soprano and tenor duets, for example from Tosca, Massenet's Manon, La Boehme, but one of my favourites is the famous duet from the Pearlfishers. Although played a lot by many artists this older version is my favourite. I love the voice of Alfredo Kraus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HTCY4DDLoQ
