Default Audience requests III (Nereffid's A la carte poll #43)

Part of a continuing series of polls, which simply asks:
Which of these works do you like?

My goal is to build a general picture of the musical interests on TC.

Please vote for *all* of the pieces you like.
Options are available for voters who don't know any of the works, and those who know some but don't like any of them. Even "I don't know any" is an interesting and welcome piece of information.

Thank you to everyone who's voted so far!
You can still vote in all the previous polls. For the full list, see the blog entry linked in my signature below.

Some of these works have been suggested on this occasionally alive thread.
I've added a few other things that people might, you know, have actually heard of.

Oh, darn! Henze's Requiem or Atterberg's Ninth Symphony didn't make the cut. Sad.

Doubtful if people even know Hosokawa's Horn Concerto exists really.

Next time, when you're asked to nominate one work, nominate one work.

Somehow missed Prokofiev's 1st symphony. My poll voting skills are getting rusty...

Prokofiev's #1 -- I was taking a nap on the couch today while that was playing. I didn't even know what it was because I was half asleep. It seemed to me sheer genius! And maybe it is, if we could only hear it with our defenses down.

Nah. Following rules is for losers. I am going to spam you with varied options. Eventually, all will make the cut.

Cringes... Nice to know that Sir Spam-a-lot Lance-a-lot wants to stuff the ballot box here.

Heh, I think you misunderstand the nature of a dictatorship.

I have heard a few of these (Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Prokofiev), but none of them moved me sufficiently to want to hear them again. Maybe I'll stumble across a better version someday.

I am not sure how dictatorship comes into the equation. But, I will keep offering you multitudes of option. 'tis better that way. You can select according to your own whims. A lot of works need to be brought to wider audiences, serrah.

That's where the dictatorship comes in. I can just ignore you!

True, but that's not the purpose of these polls. I'm trying to learn what people like, not promoting unknown music - though that is of course a noble goal.

So... no, I don't actually wish to ignore you, but simply giving me long lists of things to include in my polls is just wasting your time. I already have a list of thousands of works that I mostly draw from. The "audience requests" side of it is just to drum up a bit of interest from participants.

Ah, clever man. Still, enjoy my selections. They might prove to be of some interest to you.

I voted for the Beethoven violin concerto - big surprise, eh? And just barely voted for the Shostakovich 24 preludes and fugues. The Prokofiev has never grabbed me. The rest I don't know or don't remember.

    Well, now we do.

I have his saxophone concerto. (And now, everyone knows that that exists, too, yay!)

And Henze's Requiem and Atterberg's symphony both still exist, despite the non-cut-makingness of them. And I, for one, intend to listen to them as often as I like.
