    La Divina before La Divina, the great Muzio! It's also a pity that we don't have any full live performance of her, as with Ponselle and Rethberg, especially when she was at her prime. Still, whoever pursued her to come back and do the Columbia recordings did us a huge favor.

    It was Lauri-Volpi (among others) who funded those recordings as the company didn't have much interest in recording her! I don't know if she needed persuading, but it would have been him doing it.
