Is there a setting so I can get notifications or bleeps on my Andriod phone when I get a notification from this site like I can on Facebook? Thank you.

    Hi Judith,

The only notification we are capable of doing is through the Subscribe to Thread option. The user must "subscribe" to the thread and will be greeted with the following options:

    • No Email Notification - lists the subscription in your User CP only. You do not receive any notifications about new posts or threads in the forum.
    • Daily Email Notification - sends one email a day with the new and updated threads in the forum and any sub-forums. If there are no new or updated threads in the forum or its sub-forums then you will not receive an email.
    • Weekly Email Notification - sends one email per week in the same way as the Daily Email Notification.

Thread Subscriptions have the same options as forum subscriptions with the following additional option:

    • Instant Email Notification - sends an email as soon as a new post is added to the thread. This is not sent for every reply and will only be sent once until you revisit the forums.

We made a deal with all social media: they don't replicate Talk Classical and we don't replicate Facebook.

Is anyone else using imgur.com to post their images here on TC? Several of the images I posted via Imgur have disappeared; I've sent a message to their tech support but I haven't heard back yet--hopefully that's a sign that the problem isn't unique to me and will be corrected so that I don't have to re-post these images.

Also, is there a way that I can add an image to a post so that they will never disappear like this? Thanks.

You can open a free web page on Google and upload your images there, and link to them. I don't know how much web space they give you, but I haven't bumped my head yet.

You can first use Irfanview, a free program, to resize your image to a nice web size and save a whole lot of web space.

They only removed them is the copyright is being violated Jo, go back to
    http://old.postimg.org/

Thanks for the info, Ken--you're a good egg! I'll try them out but I have to say that I'd like to be able to do this in a way that the images are permanently included in a post. I don't like to have to rely on these services or web pages that I really do not control--that's why I still buy CDs and paper books.

It's the Internet age. Everything is disposable. But I'm pretty sure I'll expire before Google does.

Yes, Pugg, I really did like postimg.org. The very odd thing is that all the images that "disappeared" from Imgur were all photos that I took myself! The animals in my garden!! Even the Corvette and the wheel of the Corvette (the wheel was what attracted my attention in the first place) can't be considered protected by copyright, can they? You know when I sent the first help request message I did tell them they were MY photos.

I hear you! I probably won't be able to fiddle with all this until later in the week or weekend but I most definitely will try your recommendations.

I am sorry Jo, I taught you missed "recording pictures" .

Can't you find anything in the fine prints from the site??

Log off. Clear your browser history, cookies, cache, everything. Close the browser down. Re-open, log in again and see what happens.

And to add for all our new members:

When calling up the site on the internet it is imperative that you use the full url: http://www.talkclassical.com each and every time before logging in to the site. The site will not load correctly in any browser if you are using a shortcut version of the url like just 'talkclassical.com' with the http:// and www.

This site must be able to load cookies onto whatever medium is being used to access the site. This site removes those cookies when you log off properly ... that is going to the top right and clicking on "Log Out". Clicking on the red X will not properly log you out and will not remove the cookies it had loaded before.

If you log out using the "x" then the "old cookies" that were loaded before (and not given a chance to have been deleted when logging off properly) will still be resident and will cause false loadings of pages and can affect how the forum operates for that user at that time.
