I got that yesterday, for the first time. I discovered it was only when I tried to access the front page; when I burrowed in elsewhere there was no problem.

It's probably the Russians, cutting seabed cables.

The server load averages were a bit on the high side yesterday, although within acceptable limits.
I was experiencing mostly 30 to 60 second page loads on my PC.

    (Firefox 57.0.3 64 Bit - Win 7 Professional)

I am still getting the below if I try to log in from the home page.

I don't think the issue is with the device but the connection.

It seems to be a problem with servers located in the UK (& perhaps elsewhere?). If I try to connect using a VPN with a non-UK server the problem goes away.

I have the IT knowledge of a small flea. However, currently I get what you get on the front page using an Asus notebook, but do not get it using an iPad...(using Google for both)

My IT knowledge is similarly circumscribed.

Perhaps this glitch is nature's (?) way of telling me to spend more time outdoors.

Oddly the same problems are occurring for forum staff who are located in the UK. Those of us staff who are in the US are not seeing these issues whatsoever.

It is doubtful that this is a forum software issue as if it were, everybody would be having the same issues.

First thing I would suggest is to do a complete virus scan of your machine and see if anything turns up.

I have submitted a trouble ticket to the site owner - that's all I can do about any issues like this.

Thanks for the response. I have the same problem with 3 different laptops running 3 different OSs, Windows 7, Linux Mint, Fedora.

The Windows 7 machine had a scan with no results 3 days ago.

You're probably infected with Meltdown or Spectre. I base that on half hearing part of a news report.

    For what it's worth:
I have seen that screen probably 2 dozen times in the last 2 weeks. I'm in the USA and have seen it with both Edge and Chrome. I was able to get around it by simply refreshing the page. I have noticed that it only appeared when going to or going back to (clicking the Forum tab) http://www.talkclassical.com/ Going to any other page on the site has never prompted the message (i.e. http://www.talkclassical.com/classic...ic-discussion/)
I love music. I want music. I need music.

90% of us are probably potentially at risk from Meltdown and/or Spectre.

Nice work in the offing for some lucky lawyers though.
