    Default Help needed.

    Hello,

I thought I would register here, because this might be the place where my searching will end. I love Luis Bunuel and when I was watching one of his films, named "Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie", I was captivated by one of the most beautiful melodies I have ever heard. Bunuel liked to use classical music in his movies a lot, I for sure identifyed Schubert`s "Serenade" in this movie, but the piece I am looking for is when one of the characters wakes up from a dream and his wife is listening to a radio. Exactly at that moment, the music starts playing. I dont have precise audio sample, but I have a link to the movie: https://vimeo.com/62877837, it begins exactly at 1:06:08 hour mark. Any help would be very much appreciated.

It sounds a little like Alexander Scriabin but I'm afraid I don't recognise it. Sorry.

It does sound like some compositions of Scriabin, thank you for trying to help and at the same time giving his name! Since the discovery of Scriabin`s music was a pleasant surprise already, because I have to admit I never listened to him before... My classical music knowladge is very limited, but improving. Anyway, as you`ve mentioned, it sound similar, but probably its not written by Scriabin.

It's probably one of Chopin's numerous Nocturnes (not no.9 though).

I've read Bunuel's remarks on using classical music in his films - such as Wagner Tristan und Isolde in Un Chien Andalou, Mendelssohn Hebrides Overture in L'Age d'Or, Handel Messiah in Viridiana and Brahms Symphony No.4 in Las Hurdes - but there's no such mentioning about La charme as far as I know. I'm still looking throught the character pieces by Scriabin, Faure, Raff and even Liszt and Schumann's lesser known works...

Thank you every and each of you for your input!! I still had no luck with it. I`ve listened to various nocturnes by Chopin, but couldnt locate it.

I read exactly the same thing, but was again out of luck when there was no mention of Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie. I`ve watched the movie up until its very end, thinking maybe I will trace something in the credits - nothing. IMDB soundtrack/discussion board doesnt have any answer either. I googled it numerous times, adding Schubert`s "Serenade" along films name, because that is one of the compositions used in movie that I know for sure, but it didnt bring any satisfactionary results, only random ones that had no connection.

By the way, for some reason I cant see youtube video that you`ve added, but I suppose its the same trailer:

Music starts at 2:14 and can be heard much more clearer than in original link of the movie that I gave.

Yes, it's the same video, added in order to get the music clear listening.

Hmm, I doubt it can identify any track, maybe more popular ones.

Well I've made and attached a MP3 sample of the music played in the trailer. You may test it on any music discovery application you know...

Cool and I agree that its a pretty good idea, but... The problem is that this composition seems to be pretty unknown and mysterious. I think people in this forum know about classical music much more than track indetifying apps. I tryed shazam, but with no luck. I thought maybe its too silent or there are some problems with sound, so I played Titanic theme and Roses are red by Aqua at the same volume and shazam found them in few seconds... Im pretty sure they dont have what I am looking for in they`r database. And as well I am surprised that others cant tell what it is either. I thought that my very limited knowladge of classical music was the problem, but as I see its tough one for you guys as well.

    Hello,

I cant find composition from the original post up to this day and I have to admit I kind of gave up... Maybe at some point it will pop out, unexpected... But for now, I actually have another composition that I am focusing on, but cant identify it. I should really know this, I heard this melody thousands of times, but cant figure out what the composer is. I heard it in a documentary about Pier Paolo Pasolini and his movie "Salo", it was called "Pasolini Prossimo Nostro". Here is sample:

I wonder if the music you're looking for isn't something by Rachmaninoff?
