Default Music from a movie " Pickpocket"

Please, could you identify if it's by Lully or by Johann Caspar Fischer from Orchestral suite no. 7. Some say it's by Fischer even though in a movie it claims to be composed by Lully from "Amadis".

    Interesting.

I love both Bresson and Lully (or Lulli, in Italian, like in the movie credits ), and I never thought the music was not coming from Lully.

This is the "Suite No 7", with Fernand Obradour's transcription. It's unlikely that all of this is coming from Lully himself, in the Baroque period it was normal to wrote suites using music from other composers.

It sounds more to "Armide" than to "Amadis" to me, but of course I may be wrong.

great reply schigolch! thank you very much.

By the way mentioning of Fischer was due to wikipedia - once again one can't really rely on this source of information.

and yeah, my knowledge of Lully 's music is rather superficial, but I think this suite itself could be composed from pieces of his opera Amadis - goodness he has so many of them, entire pantheon of Greek/Roman Gods - so, good to find this music in a "suite" version !

many thanks for your help once again .

Terrific movie, btw--probably my favorite by Bresson.
