I have the good taste not to consider writing this. Not saying I don't like Trump or do like him, just talking about music here.

A commission from the new Republican administration to compose such a stage work would appear to have all the hallmarks of that poisoned chalice of a commission given by the Nazi authorities to Franz Schmidt to compose Deutsche Auferstehung in celebration of the ongoing achievements of the Dritte Reich, a commission which, however, the composer undoubtedly only accepted in the certainty that he would not live to complete the work.

The sheer dignity with which she has omitted to retort that Trump's infamous tweet about her identifies him as "the most overrated President-Elect since American independence" does great credit to an actor whom it would in any case be very hard to overrate; but be careful what you wish for - she's already sung the part of Florence Foster Jenkins!...
