    Yes. Below 320kbps, the higher compression is achieved cutting off higher frequencies. 192kbps has a cutoff at about 16KHz.

    I have been pretty happy with MP3 at 128 kbps. I think I use VBR. Tried some files at 64 kbps and it was not good.

    AAC does better on that. It has no rolloff at 256 and at 192 it rolls off at 18kHz I've been told.
